18 cosy fantasy books to add to your TBR

I had never heard of cosy fantasy until ‘Legends & Lattes’ started doing the rounds. It didn’t compute for me: fantasy? Cosy? HOW?

Cosy fantasy: high fantasy novels where characters go about their days in a slice of life novel with low stakes.

Of course, this is the sort of genre definition that can be up to interpretation. Low stakes and what classes as the everyday differs from reader to reader which always makes cosy fantasy picks and recommendations a bit contentious. These are a selection of titles that I’ve read myself and defined as cosy fantasy, and those that I’ve seen recommended over and over as a part of the genre so I’ve taken the majority ruling on it!

The ones I haven’t read yet? Almighty need.

Cosy fantasy is comforting, soft, brain-soothing reads for the soul and I’m absolutely on board with it.
