Cowboy romance is back, baby: 8 July releases I can’t wait to get my hands on

I’ll be honest, these heatwaves here in the south of England combined with a serious book hangover from ‘The Way of Kings’ are killing of my reading mojo so I need all the help I can get in July. I\m pinning all of my hopes on two very exciting cowboy romances that are coming up next month because I truly never tire of them.

I need some quick and fast reads that absorb me completely to get me started so I can dive into some chunkier fantasy novels later on in July. I think some of these are going to fit the bill.

Such good covers this month!

  • ‘Overruled’ by Lana Ferguson (1 July) - I read and loved Ferguson’s ‘The Fake Mate’ so I’m super excited to read this spicy workplace romance between two lawyers while I wait for the sequel to ‘The Fake Mate’ coming later this year.

  • ‘Back in the Saddle’ by Maggie Eckersley (3 July) - there’s something about this cowboy romance between a Scottish doctor who flees to Oklahoma and falls for the small-town cowboy that’s just making me feel all yee haw.

  • ‘Human Rites’ by Juno Dawson (17 July) - the finale of the ‘Her Majesty’s Royal Coven’ series in finally here and I could not be more ready. Queer, intersectional witchy urban fantasy with insane twists and turns, this series is a favourite.

  • ‘These Mortal Bodies’ by Elspeth Wilson (17 July) - I mean, it’s pitched as dark academia so of course I need it! Ivy leaves Scotland for a prestigus university and becomes entwined in the world of secret societies.

  • ‘Arcana Academy’ by Elise Kova (22 July) - another dark academia read! We have this on our line up for season 11 of the podcast so make sure you’re subscribed and ready for when the episode goes live later in July!

  • The Library at Hellebore’ by Cassandra Khaw (22 July) - I’m just going to give you the line of the summary that sold me completely: The Hellebore Technical Institute for the Gifted is the premier academy for the dangerously powerful: the Anti-Christs and Ragnaroks, the world-eaters and apocalypse-makers. SOLD.

  • ‘The Brave and the Reckless’ by Dilan Dyer (24 July) - Esra drops out of medical school and joins her brother at a Wild West theme park, ending up playing the damsel in distress who’s been abducted by a cowboy - a cowboy that she hates. Beautiful. Gimme.

Are there any July releases that you’re getting your hands on this this month?
